DISASTER MANAGEMENT & EMERGENCY RELIEF
A low pressure trough that intensified into a deep depression and crossed the state coast on 9th November 2015. Cuddalore district has been the worst hit. Heavy rainfall has thrown life out of gear in several parts of Tamilnadu and caused severe damages in Cuddalore District.
Heavy rains and breaching several water tanks and rivers worsened the situation continued till 16th November 2015 and more than 125 people have been reported dead due to storm and flood.
GREEN, as a associated partner of Terre Des Homme (TDH) along with its partners in the neighboring districts had visited the flood hit area and engaged in relief programs, expressed solidarity to victims. GREEN have been involved immediate relief measures in providing free cloths, bed sheets etc.,Furthermore, our GREEN Secretary – Mr. P.S. Bose, along with the team members involved in discussion with Mr.Sambath, Minister for Textiles, appointed by State Govt of Tamilnadu for Relife work and the Deputy Secretary of National Disaster Relief Team about the NGO’s role in the relief works.
